Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink satisfied with point at Nottingham Forest

"This was a good point for us as this is a hard place to come to," said Hasselbaink who, nevertheless, has now only tasted victory once in 11 games since arriving from Burton Albion.

"To come away with a clean sheet is very good and positive. It could have gone either way, our goalkeeper was on top, then their goalkeeper was on top and in that way, it was a fair result.

"If we had believed a little more and upped the tempo in the second half, then we could have created more chances and then, who knows."

He praised his side's resilience, particularly in the dying throes of the match, adding: "The last 10 minutes is the difficult period and we played well and were comfortable. I was even thinking that we may might score and snatch a win."

Robert Tesche and Ben Osborn both saw first-half efforts rebound off the goal frame as Rangers frustrated the men in red, while Hoops midfielder James Perch was also denied by the combination of Dorus De Vries and bar in a first-half that produced far more chances than the second.

De Vries had earlier saved from Junior Hoilett and Martin Phillips, but his save from Perch's set-piece was out of the top drawer, with the Dutchman flinging himself to his top left-hand corner and flicking the ball up onto the bar and away.

Chances were at a premium after the break, with Forest sub Oliver Burke having the best chance, but after bursting clear onto Jamie Ward's through ball, his first touch sent him wide of goal and from an acute angle his effort was saved by Alex Smithies.

Forest boss Dougie Freedman admitted he was frustrated with the two points dropped, but pleased with his side's defensive efforts.

He said: "Both defences came out with great credit, but we felt it wasn't our night out there. We showed glimpses in the first half, but in truth it was a disappointing night, although we haven't got beat and we move on.

"I felt in that first 20 minutes when we got on top that we should have taken our chances, but unfortunately we didn't. I was pleased, though, with the resilience in the team and I was delighted with that. Matt Mills and Jack Hobbs were solid and Dorus De Vries was fantastic, while from an attacking point of view we will get better.

"QPR are in a false position in the table and we stuck up to them and we made sure we took something from the game.

"We are progressing, moving forward and against a very good side we dug in, but we huffed and puffed and just couldn't blow that house down."
