Joel Campbell signs for Sporting

Arsenal forward Joel Campbell has signed for Sporting Lisbon, the club have confirmed.

The deal is a season-long loan, as had been rumoured previously.

The news broke in an unconventional way - with the player tweeting the club: "Sign Joel Campbell!"

The club responded immediately: "Challenge accepted!"

In a statement, Campbell praised his Sporting and Costa Rica team-mate Bryan Ruiz, who had encouraged him to sign, as well as club president Bruno Carvalho and coach Jorge Jesus.
