Striker Kedwell, who had recently been carrying a knee injury, was left at home when the Gills travelled to Doncaster last weekend after Taylor felt he was not "focused" enough.
But the pair have since held talks and Kedwell built up his match fitness playing for the reserves on Tuesday.
Aaron Morris could return to the squad after a hamstring injury but Callum Davies is out for three months with an ankle problem.
Chesterfield could be without League One's leading scorer at Priestfield. Eoin Doyle has a hamstring problem and the 19-goal striker is a doubt for the trip.
Midfielder Sam Morsy will begin a three-match suspension following his red card last weekend against Bradford, while forward Dan Gardner faces two weeks out after suffering a knee injury during the 1-0 home defeat to the Bantams.
Blues boss Paul Cook will have to make another change in central defence as Georg Margreitter has returned to Wolves following the end of his loan spell. However, ready-made replacements Ian Evatt (head) and Sam Hird (knee) are likely to be fit again after injury.
Left-back Daniel Jones will serve the final game of his three-match ban.
