The Brazil World Cup defender is on his way out of the Camp Nou, according to his agent - and talks are said to be already under way that will see Alves head for the Premier League.
Agent and ex-wife Dinorah Santana is quoted in various media outlets as saying: "We are close to signing for a new club.
"We are in advanced talks.
"Dani is still available for Barcelona to keep hold of this summer, but he will not wait for them much longer.
"People are trying to make Dani look like the bad guy in this situation and that's wrong. This situation is quite tiresome."
OUR VIEW
This sounds to us like the agent is trying to get the best deal possible at Barcelona for her client. Alves joined Barca from Sevilla in 2008, but he is 31 and now may be the time to move on. He might not get the deal he is looking for at Barca, particularly in length of contract. It all depends on how much he wants to have a crack at playing in the Premier League, but don't be surprised if Alves ends up staying with the Catalan club.
