Luka Modric: Carlo Ancelotti should stay at Real Madrid next season

Luka Modric believes Carlo Ancelotti is the “ideal” coach to lead Real Madrid next season after throwing his support around the under-fire Italian.

The Italian will reportedly be dismissed by Los Blancos at a Press conference on Monday evening, but the midfielder is adamant that there is no-one better qualified for the job than the man currently at the helm.
“I don’t know whether [Carlo] will continue,” he told Sportske Novosti.
“All I can say is that he’s a great Coach and person and I’ve played my best football under his guidance.
“He trusted me from day one. Sometimes, even though you don’t win trophies, it doesn’t mean to say you’re no good. He’s ideal for Real Madrid.
“The season’s been very bad for Real Madrid. You either win or you lose, there’s no middle ground.
“Maybe it’s unfair to the Coach and players, but that [hunger for trophies] might be the key to success for Real Madrid.
“If we didn’t have such bad luck with injuries, it could’ve been different.
“[Not winning La Liga] is starting to become frustrating for me. It’s the only trophy that I haven’t won at Real Madrid, but I’m convinced that we’ll do our best to win next season.
“I haven’t recovered [from my injury] yet. I still can’t bend my knee so I have to continue my therapy.
“Obviously, the doctors were right when they said that my recovery was around four to six weeks long.
“The fact is that it’s been five weeks and I still can’t run at all.”
