Real Madrid have beaten rivals Barcelona to the transfer of right-back Danilo, with a fee of around £14.5 million reportedly agreed with Porto.

According to Spanish television channel La Sexta, Los Blancos will pay €20m (£14.5m) for the right-back, despite the Portuguese giants initially holding out for a figure closer to the player’s €50m (£36m) release clause.
However, due to his contract expiring at the end of next season and his intention not to sign a renewal, Porto have conceded defeat in their attempts to bargain with the capital outfit.
Additionally, La Sexta claims O Dragoes have several urgent payments amounting to €25m (£18m) and plan to cover them with the sale of Brazil international, who has long campaigned for a move to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Although it is not yet clear whether he will become Madrid’s first-choice right-back, given Dani Carvajal’s presence, Danilo fits the club’s transfer policy of signing players under 25.
OUR VIEW
This rumour has been around for some time and it looks as though Real Madrid are finally closing in on their man, despite interest from Manchester United. While Dani Carvajal has proved an able right-back this season, Los Blancos' desire to buy a right-back, particularly Danilo, has been no secret. Still only 23 but with Champions League experience under his belt, this looks a solid signing by Carlo Ancelotti's side.
