Latics land Burn

The 20-year-old signed his first professional contract with Boro last summer after joining from Sunderland.

He will now attempt to gain some first-team experience with League One Oldham, who start the season at Walsall on Saturday.

Oldham manager Darren Kelly said: "Jonathan is a young defender with bags of potential and I'm looking forward to working with him.

"He is strong in the air, good with his feet and will fit in well with what we are trying to do here."
