Steven Gerrard returns for Chelsea clash, Gary Cahill dropped

Gerrard and defender Martin Skrtel, rested for the weekend's FA Cup tie against Bolton, return but striker Mario Balotelli is on the bench. Despite returning to full training, Daniel Sturridge is not risked.

For Chelsea, captain John Terry, goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, Branislav Ivanovic, Nemanja Matic, Diego Costa, Cesc Fabregas, Eden Hazard and Willian all return to the starting line-up after the 4-2 loss to League One Bradford in the FA Cup.

Gary Cahill, however, only makes the bench after enduring a tough start to 2015. Kurt Zouma retains his spot and stands alongside Terry in the heart of the Blues defence.

The first leg at Anfield finished 1-1, with Raheem Sterling cancelling out Hazard's penalty opener.
