Full time! Manchester United win. They rode their luck, and Andre Marriner had a bad game from both side's point of view. Stephens and Lingard both could have been off. Gabbiadini had an opener wrongly ruled out. But Ibrahimovic scored a great free kick, and then led the charge that resulted in his winner. An impressive performance from him, and Southampton, and nobody else on the United side.
Ibrahimovic draws a foul, that should be it. Seconds left.
United are harrying Southampton back to their 'keeper. They have two minutes left to keep the game dead.
There will be four minutes of added time. Southampton have looked dangerous throughout, so this is not over yet.
- OffAnthony MartialManchester United
- OnMarouane FellainiManchester United
Fellaini on for Martial. Rodriguez for Davis.
Two minutes of added time to go. Rooney had been set to come on, but now it will be Fellaini for his ability to concede vital penalties.
- GoalZlatan IbrahimovicManchester United
GOAL! Manchester United 3-2 Southampton. Ibrahimovic scores - A quite ridiculous man. Patient build up from United sees the ball worked to Herrera just inside the box on the right. He clips a cross in for Ibrahimovic, who makes no error from six yards out and puts it pasts Forster.
Ibrahimovic heads away a Stephens header which looked to be troubling De Gea.
Ibrahimovic slips in Rashford, who lashes a shot at Forster. He blocks the ball, and it's a corner.
Herrera, and then Carrick, invite trouble with slack passes backwards. United have been fools today.
- OffManolo GabbiadiniSouthampton
- OnShane LongSouthampton
Gabbiadini off, Long on.
Redmond cuts inside from the edge of the box, and drives a shot that's deflected wide. It's headed away.
Herrera concedes a cheap foul on Romeu near the Southampton goal.
Pogba is tackled on the halfway line but Southampton lose it to Valencia. He clips a cross in to Ibrahimovic, the ball is headed behind for a corner, but he's penalised for being offside. There are 10 minutes left now, ish.
- OffDusan TadicSouthampton
- OnSofiane BoufalSouthampton
Boufal for Tadic, Lingard for Rashford.
An overhit corner comes to Marial, he plays it back to Carrick. The ball eventually comes to Valencia, who finds Pogba and now it's to Martial. His cross on the right comes to Lingard at the back post, and he slashes a volley over.
Ibrahimovic backheels to Pogba on the edge of the box, and he slides in to get a shot at goal which is deflected wide for a corner on the right. Herrera will take.
Ibrahimovic hits the wall with a fiercely struck effort. There's about 15 minutes left now, of normal time.
Pogba is clipped after quickly moving the ball away from Davis and Tadic, and Tadic flies into him. Should be a yellow, but it isn't a yellow. Ibrahimovic is lining it up, perhaps.
It seems Rashford will be on soon for United, perhaps for the quiet Martial.
Herrera pulls back a free kick to Carrick, but his low drive is blocked.
United take a quick corner, Lingard whips in a cross, and Forster punches it away when he might have caught it.
Pogba has indeed been poor so far. As have the rest of his side. It begs the question, if you buy one type of player for that much money, is it then a requirement he always does well? An attacking midfielder is still just an attacking midfielder. It's the same with Ozil.
Carrick concedes a foul in midfied, and Southampton will take it long. Tadic sends it in but it's booted away by Ibrahimovic. United try to push up as it runs to Forster.
Rio is confident.
Mourinho is looking pensive on the sidelines, as is Puel.
Wayne Rooney will be on soon.
Romeu glances a header from a corner at goa, and it strikes the post with De Gea beaten.
Martial covers on the left wing, tracking back. United still on the back foot, with about half an hour to go. I hope.
Romeu led with his arm into Herrera's face, but it didn't seem too vicious, or deliberate.
Herrera goes down, clutching his face, but it's not obvious why. He has form for diving.
A slack pass out from Forster allows Ibrahimovic a one-on-one with Forster, but the 'keeper runs out to block.
Smalling goes through the back of Gabbiadini, and is not booked despite doing that and having that awful beard.
- Yellow cardNathan RedmondSouthampton
Redmond is booked for a late, daft tackle in midfield on human metronome, Michael Carrick.
United are keeping the ball in defence, trying to calm themselves down maybe.
Martial overruns the ball and toes a poor pass forward which is intercepted. United need to get their act together, and Southampton need to take advantage of the poor performance.
Davis is doubled over. As he gets treatment the United players look around and down at the ground.
Lingard, on a booking, takes a swipe at Redmond as he sprints away from him, and Marriner is exceptionally lenient to give him a talking to.
United are still pegged back in their own half.
- GoalManolo GabbiadiniSouthampton
GOAL! Manchester United 2-2 Southampton. Gabbiadini scores - A corner from the left is headed up, it's headed back into the box and Gabbiadini whips a leg around the ball and past De Gea.
The ball drops to Redmond in the box, Rojo missing again, and he lashes a shot at the top corner that De Gea puts behind.
Two quick corners for Southampton, who are still on top despite the scoreline.
- 2nd Half
We go again. Carrick for Mata.
- End of 1st Half
That's half-time. See you in 15 minutes.
- GoalManolo GabbiadiniSouthampton
GOAL! Manchester United 2-1 Southampton. Gabbiadini scores - a cross from Rojo's side - he's got dragged inside without paying attention - is sent in by Ward-Prowse and Gabbiadini loses Bailly to tap in past De Gea.
Jesse 'Deadshot' Lingard hasn't added another goal yet.
Pogba is tackled on the right wing, tries to pick the ball up to take the through, and the linesman points out that a) it's a Southampton throw and b) they're called assistant referees now.
A rough tackle from Stephen goes in on Martial, studs up and late. The referee gives a yellow, and he's fortunate. He really should have gone. Lingard is getting a booking too for pointing out Martial might have had his legs broken, and would the referee awfully mind doing his job properly?
- GoalJesse LingardManchester United
GOAL! Manchester United 2-0 Southampton. Lingard scores - Herrera to Lingard, onto Martial on the left. His cross is blocked and then he's tackled to win a throw. United have been poor so far, really lacking any fluidity.. But...Rojo drives forward from the left, towards the box, slips in Lingard, and he strokes a shot past Forster and into the bottom corner.
Pogba hoiks a long ball toward Ibrahimovic, but it goes straight to Forster.
From a corner on the left, United fail to clear it, Stephens pulls it back to nobody, and a great chance isn't created.
Bailly heads a cross behind for a corner on the left.
Rojo is a poor left back but he's not slow. Blind is a poor left back and slow. Shaw is back to his old self after his six good games last season. It's not brain science.
Tadic sweeps a shot at goal from the edge of the box, with Pogba gawping at him, and De Gea spills it, teasing those closing in around him.
I'd expect Carrick to come on if things aren't better for United by half-time.
Martial receives a pass on the left, the ball is worked to Rojo at the back post by Pogba, and he stands up a cross that Forster claims.

- Yellow cardOriol RomeuSouthampton
Martial receives the ball from Herrera, looking dangerous on the left, but Herrera is then clattered by Romeu, who's booked. Free kick 25 yards out and central.
Here's a photo of the action.
Pogba finds Mata, who's clipped from behind by Bertrand. United take it short.
Carrick is on the bench, and he might be needed at half time if United can't get settled.
On the replays, it appears that Gabbiadini wasn't offside, but the lurking Bertrand was. That's the wrong decision, but a tight one, and Bertrand made it tough.
United are under pressure now. Rojo is getting rattled.
Southampton think they've scored! Rojo is dispossessed by Cedric, who clips it across goal for Gabbiadini to poke home, but he's offside.
The corner is taken short, Tadic has it back and sends it to the back post. Rojo clears it for another corner, this time from the left. After some head tennis, Pogba hooks it away into Southampton's half.
Redmond comes in from the right and drives a low shot off Herrera, winning a corner on the right wing.

Martial plays a one-two with Lingard, but it's awkwardly done and he's dispossessed.
United have edged possession, but they've not stretched the game yet. Southampton are organised, for now.
Baily takes a poor touch as he runs back to goal but manages to play it back to De Gea.
Gabbiadini runs to the near post but the cross into him is just a touch too strong.
- 1st Half
The match gets underway.
Five minutes before kick-off. Who will succeed, United with their game every three days or Southampton, without kicking a ball in anger in a fortnight?
Jose Mourinho is on the television now, praising Southampton for playing good sides on their way to the final. He's not clear about why he chose the side he did without Mkhitaryan available.
Here's why Kevin Coulson thinks Southampton could win today.
This could be the day that Zlatan Ibrahimovic wins his second trophy for United (yes, I know he counts the Community Shield and I don't understand why either).
You can tweet me at @Eurosport_UK if you've any comments or predictions throughout the match.
Here's the latest transfers, with something for United fans.
Southampton have Manolo Gabbiadini uup front, and Martin Caceres could make his first ever appearance for the club in a cup final. The occasionally excellent Shane Long will provide ballast from the bench.
Wayne Rooney - captain, leader, Chinese Super League legend - is on the bench today. You get the feeling he wouldn't have even made it that far if it hadn't been for Henrikh Mkhitaryan's injury against St Etienne. Jose Mourinho, United's manager, said he's happy for him to lift the cup as the club captain, and being on the bench means he doesn't have to become a Twitter meme in his unnecessary shinpads.
