The former Everton and Manchester United boss took over from Jagoba Arrasate at Anoeta with the Txuri-urdin perilously close to the bottom of the League, yet has since steered the team into ninth place.
It is a contribution to the Basques’ cause that Loren feels should not be underestimated.
“I don’t need to repeat how hard it was to dismiss Arrasate but we needed a reaction from the players and that has since been achieved,” he told Marca.
“The immediate objective has been reached but we know we need to improve even more. When we made the decision to change the coach the first goal we set ourselves was to improve performances and start to pick up more points.
“We were lucky in that a name such as David’s, one that had previously been out of bounds for our club, ended up joining us and I think he has brought some good things with him.
“He has made the team more solid, more consistent, and you can see that with what he has done so far. I think we are seeing a team that is getting better all the time.
“The coach has said on numerous occasions that he is combining the work he is doing this season with a view to next year.”
Loren admits that La Real have been linked with a few players in the past few weeks, particularly from the Premier League.
“It’s true. If you have a German coach then the tendency is for him to look to his own league because he knows the players that fit into his approach to the game.
“Now it’s happening to us with the Premier League. England is a very difficult place to get players unless you know them and having Moyes here will make it easier in that regard,” he explained.
