Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang promised his grandfather he would join Real Madrid before he died, the in-demand Borussia Dortmund forward has disclosed.
The Gabon international, 26, commanded hefty column inches in the recent transfer window after a prolific campaign in the Bundesliga.
He already has 20 league goals this season, form that has seen him linked with Europe’s biggest clubs.
However, Aubameyang has his eyes set on one club only: Real Madrid.
"My childhood dream? To play at Real Madrid," he told L'Equipe.
"In 2014, before he died, I promised my grandfather who was from Avila, 110 kilometers from Madrid, that I would play there. It will be complicated, but it sits in a corner of my head.
"When I was a kid, I watched Hugo Sanchez videos. The backflip I sometimes do when I score is actually an homage to him.
"Real Madrid, or another great spanish club, would also be a great gift to my mother."
