Sergio Busquets signs new contract with Barcelona

Busquets, 26, came through Barca’s famed La Masia academy and is now tied to the Catalan club until June 2019.

The midfielder made his debut for the first team in 2008 and has won 16 trophies with Barca, including four La Liga titles and two Champions Leagues.

Barcelona confirmed the extension on their official website. Sport claims the 26-year-old's release clause has been set at €175 million (£127m), although Mundo Deportivo says it stays at €150m.

Busquets will officially sign the deal on Friday. The terms of the contract also give Barca the option to extend the deal by another year until 2020.
