Reports in Chile claim Juventus are ready to sell Arturo Vidal to Real Madrid.
According to La Tercera, the midfielder has already agreed terms on a move to the Bernabeu, with Juventus having also agreed in principle to a deal.
Last week there had been strong reports he was in advanced negotiations with Arsenal, but Madrid are now favourites to secure his services after new boss Rafa Benitez made him his number one target.
La Tercera believes he will sign a five-year contract with the Madrid club, and even suggest Madrid directors could fly out to Santiago de Chile to complete the paperwork.
The report does not mention a fee but it would be expected to be in the region of £25 million.
OUR VIEW
It is looking increasingly likely that Vidal’s time in Turin is coming to an end. At 28, £25 million would represent a good return on a player that Juve signed for £7.5 million in 2011. Furthermore, if Juve are willing to sanction Vidal’s move, it would suggest that they are bullish about retaining the services of Paul Pogba.
From Madrid’s point of view, the acquisition of Vidal will provide added thrust to an already lavishly talented midfield, and he would be a key component as Madrid look to launch an assault on all fronts come next season.
