Atletico Madrid announce signing of Croatia full-back Šime Vrsaljko

Vrsaljko, 24, is on holiday after the Euro 2016 finals in France. He played in two of three Croatia's group games - starting the 2-1 win over Spain - but did not appear as they 1-0 to Portugal after extra-time in the last 16.

"Vrsaljko is a player with a huge projection, although he has already demonstrated his quality in a championship as competitive as the Italian Serie A," said Jose Luis Pérez Caminero, Sporting Manager.

"It perfectly fulfils our idea of incorporating players who increase the competition within the group and our team’s level. He is very versatile, since he can play in both sides, which offers us interesting alternatives."

Vrsaljko has spent three years in Serie A with Sassuolo and Genona after winning four league titles with Dynamo Zagreb in Croatia.
