Carlos: Valderrama: Zinedine Zidane does not like James Rodriguez

Rodriguez's fellow countryman Valderrama was at a loss to explain Rodriguez's absence from the Real side.

Having seen Real struggle without him to a 0-0 draw against a limited Manchester City side, Valderrama believed that he was an unused sub because Zidane does not want him. On Periscope, he said:

"Even if he scores three, four or five goals, Zidane won't put him on.

"James is a player that he does not like.

"[Carlo] Ancelotti put him on and he played well, and then later with [Rafa] Benitez, but not with Zidane.

"So we do not understand what is happening with him."

Rodriguez has been criticised for his lifestyle on the pitch during his time in Madrid, and has been linked with a move away this summer, most recently to Manchester United.
