Real Madrid ask for respect for 'exemplary' Cristiano Ronaldo over tax reports

Real Madrid have released a statement following reports surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo's tax situation, asking that the forward is shown respect.
Documents released by Football Leaks have made waves in Spain and the rest of the footballing world as they allege that Ronaldo has diverted €150 million of income to offshore tax havens., The player has denied any wrongdoing.
"At reports that have been published in recent days and given the certificate issued by the Tax Agency by which proves that our player Cristiano Ronaldo is aware of all their tax obligations, the Real Madrid CF requires the utmost respect for player like Cristiano Ronaldo, whose behaviour has been absolutely exemplary throughout his career in our club."
Quotes from Jose Maria Mollinedo, secretary general of the GESTHA union, implied that if Ronaldo were to go to court and be found guilty then he could be facing a lengthy prison sentence.
The Real statement comes hot on the heels of one from Gestifute, the company who represents Ronaldo and Jose Mourinho, also accused in the Football Leaks story, denying the accusations.
