Report: Celtic win race to sign Real Madrid wonderkid Martin Ødegaard on loan

Celtic have beaten off competition from several European clubs to sign Martin Ødegaard on loan from Real Madrid, according to media reports.

The Italian website TMW claims Odegaard, 16, will join the Scottish champions for a season having previously worked under the Glasgow club's manager Ronny Delia at Norwegian club Stromgodset.
Odegaard apparently rejected the chance to join Celtic on a permanent basis in January as he became the highest paid teenager in the world by joining Real Madrid in a deal worth around £80,000 per week.
Odegaard's father called Deila after he chose Madrid, but it appears the player will now get the chance to work again with his former coach in Glasgow.
He is very special," said Deila as he tried to sign the player at the start of the year. "Every time he gets a level, he takes it. His attitude is great and he always wants to progress, to learn. I know what’s happening. He’s in the town where my kids live and I know a lot of people there. I have control of the situation and we’ll see what we do. If there are possibilities, of course, we will try it. But it’s a very hard competition.
New Madrid coach Rafael Benitez has apparently agreed for Odegaard to spend a season on loan at Celtic where he has the prospect of appearing in the Champions League.

Getafe, Real Betis and Valencia were all linked with Odegaard, but Celtic have apparently won the race for his signature.
If I could work with Ronny again that would be great," said Odegaard last year. "Maybe it’s possible. This is football, everything is possible. Obviously I’ve seen Celtic in the Champions League a lot and I was really impressed. They’re a great club with great fans.
