Real Madrid got back to winning ways in La Liga but only just, as Alaves hit the woodwork twice in the second half as they lost 2-1 at home to the Spanish champions.

Madrid were dealt a shock defeat in midweek by Real Betis to leave them seven points behind Barcelona in the table, but that was cut to four thanks to a double from Dani Ceballos, brought into midfield as Zidane rung the changes.
In truth, Madrid could have won by a greater margin, with Cristiano Ronaldo hitting the woodwork twice and Sergio Ramos missing a golden chance when firing over from eight yards.
But Madrid were far from comfortable as Alfonso Pedraza saw two attempts come off the woodwork himself for Alaves.
If Barcelona beat Girona on Saturday evening, they will reclaim a seven-point lead over their bitter rivals at the top of the table.
