Auxerre talk to Scifo

Scifo played for Auxerre between 1989 and 1991 and has been in contact with the club's president Gerard Bourgoin.

The French club are searching for a new boss after Jean Fernandez left the club and subsequently joined Nancy.

"We had a little chat," Scifo said. "He wanted to know if I was especially interested. But there is nothing more yet."

Scifo was one on the most highly regarded European players of the late 1980s and 1990s but his coaching career has been less stellar.

He has spent spells in charge of Sporting Charleroi, Tubize and Excelsior Mouscron in Belgium.
