Fofana gets knee injury

The18-year-old Malian right-back made only his second Ligue 1 appearance at the weekend when he came on at half-time during OGC's 0-0 draw at Valenciennes, but now faces being sidelined until February with the injury sustained to his right knee.

"He was injured on Wednesday in a fairly trivial duel in training," said Nice manager Claude Puel. "He will have the operation in the coming days.

"I am sorry for him because he was on the rise, and for us too."

Another Nice player as at the other end of his rehabilitation from a similar injury.

Centre-forward Xavier Pentecote, who has been out since December 2011, is expected to resume full training next month.
