Mavuba earned his first French call-up at the age of 20, but his relishing the chance to add to his six caps against the Copa America holder at Le Havre's new Stade Oceane.
"I'm really happy to be back with Les Bleus and to meet my new team-mates," said the midfielder. "I'm proud to be here and I'll savour every moment."
Mavuba skippered Lille to a league and cup double last year.
He added: "Things have changed since I was last here. Before, I was one of the youngsters and now I'm one of the old heads. I have more experience now, and if I can bring that to bear, I will, but I won't get ahead of myself.
"This match against Uruguay is an important for me: I want to repay the faith shown in me. The new coach called me up in his very first squad, which is a mark of confidence. I'm 28 now, which perhaps is the right age to make my mark with Les Bleus. I'm going to make the most of this opportunity."
