Aston Villa identify Christian Benteke replacement: Monaco star Anthony Martial

Aston Villa have already found their replacement for Christian Benteke according to the French press: Monaco striker Anthony Martial.

Martial, 19, is viewed as a big talent in France and only recently signed a new contract with Monaco until 2019.

However, respected French daily L’Equipe says Villa want to use some of the £32.5 million they will receive for Benteke’s sale to sign the striker.

L’Equipe say Villa’s interest in the player who scored nine goals in 35 Ligue 1 games last season is more evidence of the overbearing financial power of the Premier League.

The paper highlights West Ham’s ability to sign Dmitri Payet from Marseille, Andre Ayew’s move to Swansea from the same club and Villa’s capture of Lille star Idrissa Gueye in a £9m deal.

Martial has also been linked with Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
