Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers tweaked his set-up to relieve some of the defensive duties of captain Steven Gerrard against Ludogorets in their penultimate Champions League Group B match.
Lucas Leiva was handed the role of screening the back four allowing Gerrard to play slightly further forward, while Kolo Toure made his second successive start in Europe after impressing against Real Madrid in the Bernabeu.
The third change from the defeat at Crystal Palace on Sunday saw Jordan Henderson return from illness.
