A Liam Boyce penalty and an Andrew Davies strike put County in control but a wonder goal from defender Sean Dillon got United right back into the match before the Staggies held on for a 2-1 Ladbrokes Premiership win - their third of the new season.
Fraser said: "It was a great three points. We were on top of things in the first half but we were up against it in the second. But we did the dirty side of the game well and stuck in there."
He added: "We wanted to keep a clean sheet but it was a wonder strike which caught us off guard. After that we defended all they threw at us - it was good to get the three points in the end.
Fraser admitted the County players were teeming with confidence following such a positive result.
He said: "We'll try and keep the momentum going. It's the international break now but we want the games to come thick and fast. The boys are confident we can get maximum points going into every game."
United's John Rankin felt his side deserved more from the game.
He said: "I thought we had the better chances in the first half but conceded a penalty which I thought should have been a free-kick to us. But that's the way things go.
"Their second goal was from a well-worked corner which we should have dealt with."
He added: "When they went 2-0 up it was always going to be an uphill battle. But credit to the boys we had a never-say-die attitude and stuck at it. We were determined to score the next goal which we did. We were unfortunate not to get a draw, never mind a victory."
On the addition of Billy Mckay, United's on-loan signing from Wigan Athletic, to the squad, Rankin said: "What a difference he made. His movement was great, he was holding the ball up. He is a great signing for the club.
"He's a great addition to the squad, he'll certainly score goals for us and push us up that table."
