Midfielder Sean McConville grabbed Stanley's second-half winner to inflict a third successive defeat on the Bees.
Barnet striker Michael Gash had earlier cancelled out Sam Togwell's own goal to level the game at half-time.
Allen said: "We are going to have to make some changes, it needs sparking up again. It looks like a few of them have lost some confidence, they don't become bad players over night.
"Some of the them just looked a little bit heavy-legged today, which normally comes from a heavy mind and we've got to clear that out and that negative attitude.
"They're good players, they're good people. They work really hard through the week and today we were found short, and we were short.
"There are bound to be little spells like this. We had little spells like this last season and you have to guide them through it and look after them.
"I don't think we played very well at Wimbledon last week. I thought we had a little bit of a go today but we lost far too many battles.
"But they've got it in them and without a shadow of a doubt they will come bouncing back."
Accrington boss John Coleman was delighted to see his side return to winning ways and move within a point of top spot.
Coleman, who was named Sky Bet League Two manager of the month for September the day before the game, had led his side to four straight wins prior to last week's home defeat to Oxford.
He said: "What we said to them is successful teams don't let one defeat become two. So for our mental state of mind it was important we bounced back with a win and we don't want to leave it at that, we want to go to Plymouth and try and win there.
"It was a game that we started off really brightly and dominated for a big period. We scored in that time, which is crucial, missed a couple of chances to add to that and we were saying on the bench one of the problems we are going to have here is if we get complacent and, sure enough, we did.
"A couple of mistakes and then the keeper should do better with the shot (Gash's goal) and then they go in at half-time in the ascendancy and you're scratching your head wondering how that's happened.
"There were a lot of harsh words said at half-time and we applied ourselves a lot better second half, scored a great goal, could've added to it and saw the game out well."
