Chelsea laid down a marker for the season ahead with a convincing 3-0 friendly win over Arsenal at the Bird’s Nest Stadium in Beijing.
Goals from Willian and a couple from Michy Batshuayi gave Antonio Conte’s side the victory, reflecting their dominance over Arsenal with Arsene Wenger’s men failing to make any sort of impression on the match.
Alexandre Lacazette led the line for the Gunners, with Wenger’s side concluding their pre-season tour of the Far East before next month’s Community Shield clash against the same opposition on August 6.
Chelsea still have two friendlies in Singapore to play before that date at Wembley. The French striker was denied any kind of service, though, with Chelsea showing their superiority, particularly in the first half.
The Blues added a third just minutes after the restart, with Batshuayi netting the goal of the game, striking home from the edge of the box after a rapid counter attack.

WHERE NEXT FOR ARSENAL?

Arsene Wenger's side conclude their pre-season preparations with matches against Benfica on July 29 and Sevilla a day later at the Emirates. Arsenal begin their season against Chelsea in the Community Shield match on August 6.

WHERE NEXT FOR CHELSEA?

Chelsea have a busy week ahead of them, with Conte’s side now travelling to Singapore where they will face Bayern Munich in a friendly match on July 25. After that, the Blues will come up against Inter Milan, also in Singapore, before they return home to prepare for the Community Shield against Arsenal on August 6.

KEY POINTS

  • Pedro suffered a knock after a collision with David Ospina, coming off after just 26 minutes
  • Willian opens scoring for Chelsea after 40 minutes, finding the far corner of the post off the inside of the post
  • Michy Batshuayi doubled his side’s advantage just two minutes later, curling home a left-footed finish
  • Batshuayi added another just after the break, finding the back of the net with an emphatic finish from the edge of the box

AS IT HAPPENED

86' - OFF THE POST!

That was Arsenal's best chance of the scond half. The angle was tight, but after a good run into the area from Neslon, Willock could only hit the post with his shot.

49' - GOAL! Arsenal 0-3 Chelsea

What an exceptional goal! Fabregas' pass from deep found the run of Alonso down the left wing, with the full back cutting inside and playing a pass to the edge of the box. From there, Michy lashed home a finish to give Chelsea a three-goal lead.

42' - GOAL! Arsenal 0-2 Chelsea

It's a quick fire double for Conte's side! Not for the first time, Arsenal give away possession far to cheaply and Michy sends a wonderful finish past Ospina. Chelsea have been the better team and now they are making their chances count.

40' - GOAL! Arsenal 0-1 Chelsea

The Premier League champions have taken the lead five minutes before the break! Monreal allows Willian to cut inside and take the shot on his right foot and the Brazilian bends the ball inside the far post and in off the woodwork.

36' - GOAL CHALKED OFF!

Chelsea think they have opened the scoring, taking a quick corner kick, allowing Michy to finish from close range, but the flag is up for offside. Replays show that it was a marginal call. He might well have been in line.

26' - PEDRO KNOCK

That's a sore one for Pedro! The Spanish international had eyes only for the ball as he chased a pass over the top, but Ospina came off his line to make an intervention and clattered the Chelsea player in the process. He's receiving treatment and will have to come off here.

PRE MATCH

Alexandre Lacazette and Mesut Ozil start the match for Arsenal while Michy Batshuayi is handed a start for Conte's side amid reports he could be farmed out on loan.
Chelsea have confirmed the signing of striker Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid for around £70m, but he will not join up with his new team-mates until next week.
