Revell returns to the AESSEAL New York Stadium for the first time on Tuesday following his January transfer window move to Cardiff.
The 31-year-old has gone down in Millers folklore for his contribution over three-and-a-half seasons, with his crowning moment coming in the League One play-off final at Wembley last year where his two goals helped earn promotion to the Championship.
However, Revell intimated he would not sign a new contract at the club earlier this season and when Cardiff showed interest in January the Millers sold him for an undisclosed fee.
Revell will be part of the Bluebirds squad that take on the Millers on Tuesday night and is expected to get a rousing reception.
But Evans wants the fans to keep it in check.
"We look forward to seeing him," Evans said. "I've not see him since we left. I know (fitness coach) Paul Warne and some of the players keep in close touch with him.
"We'll shake his hand before, and I want him to get the best reception anyone can coming back here, but the minute we give him the reception, then park it ... let's not be giving a reception if he's playing.
"Let's be giving him what opposition should get.
"He'll want to score, he'll want to get three points, he'll want to play well. That's what professional players do."
Evans insists the decision to sell Revell was entirely down to business and knows the striker is financially far better off now.
"We have to move on, don't we?" he added. "The club has a business side as well as a football side on the pitch. The business side was to sell Alex.
"It wasn't a football decision.
"It's also a business decision for Alex, when he sits there and sees the difference it makes to his life with the offer he had from Cardiff.
"They're all decisions that have to go into the pot.
"If we had turned the offer down, what Alex are we left with? Someone who is looking over his shoulder at what might have been financially for him."
Revell has found himself out of the Bluebirds' side in recent weeks and has scored one goal in 10 outings.
