The Juventus midfielder is widely expected to sign for the Major League Soccer club next week, when his contract with the Bianconeri expires.
Italy hero Pirlo was at Yankee Stadium for tonight’s big derby between New York City FC and New York Red Bulls.
He waited pitchside for the NYCFC players to come off the field after the warm-up and saluted them, giving David Villa a hug.
Frank Lampard was also present for the match, as today NYCFC confirmed he’ll make his debut on July 12 against Sebastian Giovinco’s Toronto FC.
