Morata returned to the Bernabeu following two years with Juventus in Turin and he claims that former Juve boss Antonio Conte had attempted to lure him to Stamford Bridge.
"Chelsea showed the most interest in signing me," the Spanish striker told Sport Bild.
"Antonio Conte had already signed me for Juventus and it would have been a very good offer this time - I would have been the most expensive Spanish player ever.

"They offered roughly 70 million euros, but (Real Madrid) said that they had me in their plans and that was always my dream."
The 23-year-old striker also said that Cristiano Ronaldo was the best player in the world - "I see how he fights and works his butt off every day."
Morata has scored twice so far since his return to Real, once in the league and once in the Champions League, as well as a brace for Spain in their 8-0 win over Lichtenstein.
