The former North End defender is away on international duty with Northern Ireland, who face Finland in a European Championship qualifier on the same day, and so the right-berth may be filled by Tyler Forbes, another ex-Lilywhites youth product.
Defender Stephen Jordan could return for the Cod Army in front of the television cameras following a hamstring injury which ruled him out of the past three games.
That would still leave Nick Haughton (foot), Danny Andrew (knee) and Jamille Matt (leg) on the sidelines for Graham Alexander's men.
Preston's squad has been depleted by international call-ups.
England Under-20 international Callum Robinson and Australia's Bailey Wright are set to feature for their countries on Sunday and Monday respectively and will therefore be missing, provided their nations intend to use them.
Robinson and Wright will likely both have to come out of the starting line up as a result, opening the door for the likes of Chris Humphrey and Calum Woods to come in.
Gibraltar's Scott Wiseman could face Scotland on Sunday but neither he nor Republic of Ireland Under-21s call-up Alan Browne have been involved in the first team during their recent excellent run.
