Sergio Aguero is unhappy with his club manager and could leave this summer, plus Diego Simeone and Moeen Ali. It's Friday's Paper Round...

Aguero fears for his Man City future

Sergio Aguero could be on his way out of Manchester City, according to club "insiders" - says the Mirror. Aguero started on the bench in City's crunch Champions League tie against Barcelona on Wednesday night and is believed to be unhappy with the way in which he's being utilised by Pep Guardiola. The City boss claims that the decision to leave Aguero out was tactical, the report adds, but a summer exit may well be on the cards.
Paper Round's view: Guardiola "claims" leaving out Aguero was tactical, does he? Well, of course he does, because it was.
Pep felt that the best way to beat Barcelona in a one-off game was to flood midfield, which meant sacrificing his first-choice striker from the starting XI. It didn't work and probably wasn't the correct decision in hindsight, but you can bet your bottom dollar that Aguero will be a major feature of City's team for much of this season.
It's also worth bearing in mind that the striker isn't in peak fitness and is still recovering from a tricky time with Argentina in the recent international break - not that his manager needs any further justification for leaving him out.

Simeone 'dreaming' of the Premier League

Diego Simeone "has set his heart" on moving to England and could do so even before the end of his current Atletico Madrid contract - according to the Mirror. Simeone is apparently upset that Atleti aren't able to compete financially with Barcelona and Real Madrid in La Liga, so feels that a big budget in the Premier League would be the best next step for him. And joining the stellar cast of coaches in the English top-flight is also a tempting factor for a man with Simeone's vast self-confidence.

Paper Round's view: If Simeone is to leave Atletico then a Premier League move would make sense, mainly because the number of clubs able to provide him a financially tempting offer is higher than in any other league across the world. But is he really desperate to get out of Madrid within the next 18 months? That would seem unlikely given the quality of the set-up he's built there.
Atletico are currently top of the table in La Liga, so it's not as if Simeone is unable to compete with the two giants of the division. He's already won one league title there, remarkably, so why not stay and add to that tally?

Moeen proves his worth (again)

Moeen Ali described his 68 against Bangladesh as "the hardest 60 I've ever made" - reports the Guardian. The England all-rounder dug in and survived five visits to the DRS studio during an innings that helped England recover from a perilous position to a competitive total.

Paper Round's view: How much more proof is needed that Moeen Ali is a vital member of this England team? Time and again he bails the side out, more frequently with the bat of late - although his pair of wickets before lunch on day two offered a timely reminder of his oft-overlooked positive qualities with the ball.
Take a glance at the ICC rankings and you'll see Moeen higher than his much-vaunted team-mate Ben Stokes virtually across the board, even though his willingness to sacrifice his wicket for the cause has limited his own personal statistics on occasion.
What a boon it is for England to have a player of his quality in the middle order.
