Paul Pogba is about to become the most expensive signing in the history of the game, a Tottenham trio are on holiday, and a rugby coach is seeking advice from Stuart Pearce. It's Wednesday's Paper Round.

Pogba heading to Old Trafford as Mourinho clears out the promising kids

At last the saga may be drawing to a close - at least, according to the i paper. Paul Pogba is ready to sign a contract with Manchester United, who will fork over £100m to Juventus in exchange. This long-running transfer tale will finally be over, with Jose Mourinho emerging victorious.
There's a darker edge to the story, however. The one bright spot of Louis van Gaal's regime - the emergence of a string of youth team players - is set to be reversed. "United manager Jose Mourinho has made it very clear that he does not have faith in the same young players as his predecessor Louis van Gaal," the report adds. "James Wilson, Tyler Blackett and Guillermo Verela [were] all omitted from the club’s pre-season tour squad that embarked for China on Tuesday and now likely to be offloaded."
Paper Round's view: After Zinedine Zidane politely but firmly indicated that he wouldn't be entering a bidding war with United, the path was left clear for them to get their man at last. The fodder of a thousand transfer tales, perhaps this is finally coming to a conclusion.
As for the destruction of the fruitful LVG youth policy? It was always expected, given Mourinho's dreadful track record, yet somehow it still seems somewhat shocking. But when the Special One takes over, the babies ALWAYS go out with the bathwater.
The irony that it was exactly this sort of short-sightedness which means United now have to spend £100m on a player who came through their own academy will not be lost on fans.

Tottenham trio off on holiday

There's a few weeks left before the Premier League season starts - plenty of time to squeeze in a last-minute sunshine break. Harry Kane, Eric Dier and Dele Alli have gone off on holiday together, along with their respective partners, reports the Daily Mail. What's more, they've taken to social media to share their snaps.
Paper Round's view: The Daily Mail seem more than a touch scornful about it, hinting that after England's debacle of a showing in Euro 2016 the players shouldn't even consider having a holiday or any fun ever again. We, on the other hand, think it's rather nice that this trio, team-mates for club and country, want to spend time together in the close season - that's got to be good for unity and understanding, surely?

Team GB rugby sevens pick the brains of sporting superstars

The coach of the Team GB's debutant Olympic rugby sevens squads has been picking the brains of sporting superstars - including Stuart Pearce, Denise Lewis and Warren Gatland - to make sure he and his players are fully prepared for Rio, reports the Mirror. They've been sharing their experiences of competing at major international events - and former Lions coach Gatland's knowledge of bringing together players from the home nations is proving key.
Paper Round's view: This is a very sensible move from Simon Amor. This is the first time rugby sevens has been in the Olympics, and nobody quite knows what to expect. Looking outward and seeking expertise from other sporting disciplines is an excellent plan - and while neither the men's nor the women's teams are seeded in the competition, this attention to detail in preparation must surely give them a chance to spring a surprise or two.
