The Mourinho v Wenger feud continues, Bastian Schweinsteiger plots revenge, and Chris Coleman is angry about Aaron Ramsey's injury. It's Thursday's Paper Round.

Mourinho sabotages Arsenal bid for Jones

Phil Jones won't be joining Arsenal, say i, because Jose Mourinho refuses to do business with Arsene Wenger. Arsenal's quest for a new centre back continues because of their manager's ongoing feud with the new United boss.
Paper Round's view: Yes, we're back in primary school, everyone. This is simultaneously absolutely ludicrous and absolutely believable. The simmering dislike between this pair is well known and much chronicled, and it's all too easy to imagine Mourinho taking a sly pleasure in sandbagging his nemesis's search for a central defender.

Sturridge unhappy with Liverpool role

Daniel Sturridge is not happy with being used in a wide role for Liverpool, according to the Times, and would much prefer to be playing centrally. "I have to do a job for the team,” he is quoted as saying. "That’s not saying I am happy to do it." Does this hint at unrest in Jurgen Klopp's camp?
Paper Round's view: Well, no. It may be ill advised to admit it, but there are very few centre forwards who'd be happily playing on the flank. And it's not as if Sturridge is going on strike or refusing to play where he's asked - he's explicitly said he will do as his manager requested.

Schweinsteiger's revenge on Mourinho

Bastian Schweinsteiger has said he's not going to leave Manchester United for any other club in Europe - and for the meantime, he's happy to train and play with the development squad and pick up his sizeable wages, says the Express. They deem this "revenge" - rather than move on elsewhere, admitting his time at United has been a failure, he's sticking it out.
Paper Round's view: It's not really revenge, is it, if there are no other options on the table for him? The Express make it clear that though that while there may be MLS or Chinese clubs interested, the transfer windows there have shut - and there have been no offers from British clubs. Until there is a firm bid, what else is Schweinsteiger meant to do? It's also fairly unlikely that he's counting the money he's raking in - compared to his career earnings, plus those of his new wife Ana Ivanovic, it's hardly a life-changing sum. No, this is just a practical decision on Schweinsteiger's part - not scheming.

Wenger's ruined Ramsey

Tough day for Arsene Wenger. The Daily Star reckon Chris Coleman's got it in for him as well, blaming Arsenal for Aaron Ramsey's fitness problems. The Wales manager said he was surprised that Ramsey was named in the Gunners' first team at the start of the season, and wondered why he hadn't been rested after his busy summer at the Euros.
Paper Round's view: On the one hand, you can see Coleman's point - Wenger admitted it was a risk to play Ramsey, and he did rest a couple of his other squad members who'd been in action over the summer. On the other hand...come on, Chris, the Euros were six weeks ago. That's a fairly significant chunk of time off - it's quite reasonable to expect a 25-year-old to be able to play a football match.
