Paul Lambert has revealed he tried to bring Tom Lawrence back to Blackburn for the remainder of the campaign this week despite only extending his loan by a further month.

The 21-year-old Wales cap moved to Rovers from Leicester back in August and after impressing in his 21 appearances to date, the Sky Bet Championship side wanted to make the arrangement last until the end of the campaign.
That was the Foxes' view too, but those who handle Lawrence's contract were keen to make the arrangement just a short term one for now.
"I think it was his management team," Lambert said.
"We wanted to try and do the full term and Leicester did as well. It kind of threw me a little bit.
"But it's no fault of Tom at all. That's a discussion between Tom and his agent himself. Tom's a young kid, it's a big thing for a young player to make major decisions. We tried to do it."
