Benfica president banned

Benfica president Luis Felipe Vieira has been banned for 40 days from all football activities for criticising a referee.

Vieira launched a verbal attack in the press on Carlos Xistra after a Liga match against Estrela Amadora in October. He has also been fined 1,500 euros by the Portuguese Football Federation.

He is to appeal against the sanctions. Benfica won the original match 3-1.
