Crystal Palace came from behind to beat Everton 3-2 at Goodison Park in a thrilling game of end-to-end Premier League football.
The Eagles came to Merseyside last year and inflicted a 3-2 defeat on Everton that all but ended Roberto Martinez's side's hopes of a top-four finish and a Champions League berth.
This defeat may have less of a psychological effect on the Merseyside club, but Martinez will be worried at the way the fast-paced Palace attack continually threatened his back four on the break.
Everton's rearguard contained three England defenders in Phil Jagielka, Leighton Baines and John Stones, but they were often left gasping for air when faced by Yannick Bolasie and Fraizer Campbell at full pace.
Romelu Lukaku had given the home side the lead, but Neil Warnock's side roared back with strikes from Mile Jedinak (penalty), Campbell and Bolasie.
Baines reduced the deficit from the penalty spot with eight minutes remaining, but Scott Dann and the Palace defence held out as the Londoners secured their first league win of the season.
KEY MOMENTS
7' - CHANCE: Barry chips the ball straight to Ledley, then wins it back and finds Osman. Osman then plays a superb angled ball into Atsu, who hits the side netting.
8' - GOAL: Everton 1-0 Crystal Palace. Osman plays in Lukaku, who finishes low to Speroni's right. Super skill again from Osman in the build-up.
29' - PENALTY: Mistake by Tim Howard, who pulls down McArthur in the area, and referee Oliver points to the spot.
30' - GOAL: Everton 1-1 Crystal Palace. Jedinak slams the ball past Howard to make it 1-1. Everton have had all the possession but Palace are level.
41' - CHANCE: Bolasie runs at Stones and shoots, and his shot deflects off a blue shirt and hits the post. Campbell is unable to get to the rebound.
54' - GOAL: Everton 1-2 Crystal Palace. Campbell outjumps Howard to head Kelly's cross into the Everton goal. Terrible goalkeeping, but what a leap from Campbell.
59' - CHANCE: Osman wins a corner, Atsu gets down the flank with the second ball, Lukaku sees a shot blocked by Dann, then Barry blazes over from two yards.
69' - GOAL: Everton 1-3 Crystal Palace. Palace nick the ball off Osman, Puncheon sets up Bolasie down the left and the Congo international sweeps it past Howard.
82' - PENALTY: Dann brings down McCarthy in the box and Oliver points to the box immediately. But Dann seems to have pulled the foot away.
83' GOAL: Everton 2-3 Crystal Palace. Baines rolls a cool spot-kick past Speroni.
87' CHANCE: Mirallas sets up Lukaku with a chance after a great piece of work by Naismith, but the Belgian is just wide.
KEY STATS
Palace have scored a total of 16 goals in their last seven Premier League away games, after bagging only six in their previous 15 on the road.
The Eagles now have four wins from six Premier League matches against Everton at Goodison Park.
TALKING POINT: Everton's dodgy back five? Everton equalled a Premier League record in conceding 10 goals in their first three games of the season, and although they chalked up their first clean sheet in last week's win over West Brom, the defensive frailties returned at Goodison Park against Palace. John Stones struggled against the pace of Yannick Bolasie, and Tim Howard was badly at fault for Palace's second when he was out-jumped by Campbell.
MAN OF THE MATCH
Mile Jedinak (Crystal Palace) - Everton threatened to run away from the game in the opening 15 minutes, but the Australian's calming presence in front of the back four helped the visitors gain a foothold in the game. The 30-year-old was particularly effective in checking the ambitions of Osman in trying to link up with Everton frontmen Lukaku and Eto'o.
