Gary Neville: I would have picked Angel Di Maria over Alexis Sanchez

Former Manchester United right-back Gary Neville has stated he would have signed Angel Di Maria over Alexis Sanchez if handed the choice last summer.

Di Maria has suffered a dip in form after a blistering start to Old Trafford, but Neville backed the Argentine midfielder to come good.
Sanchez, by contrast, has enjoyed an impressive debut season in England since switching from Barcelona and has been one of Arsenal’s most consistent performers.
“Obviously Sanchez has had a far bigger impact and a better season than Di Maria,” Neville told talkSPORT. “But if you would have asked me at the start of the season; Sanchez or Di Maria - I would have said Di Maria.
“I like Sanchez as well, but I would have said Di Maria at the start of the season.
“Di Maria and Shaw will prove to be fantastic signings for United, but they just need to perform to the level and they [Man United] need to get the best out of them.”
Di Maria joined United for a British record £59.7 million from Real Madrid last summer.
