Luke Shaw out until 2015 in latest Manchester United injury blow

Shaw came off after just a quarter of an hour in last weekend's match against Arsenal, and pictures soon emerged of him wearing a protective boot and walking with crutches.

Several reports, including one in the Daily Telegraph, suggest that the knock is far worse than originally thought, with the initial two-week recovery period expected to be trebled in what the paper calls a "shattering blow" for Louis van Gaal.

United's defence is already without Marcos Rojo, Phil Jones and Rafael, while Dutch international Daley Blind - a midfielder who can play in defence - is also out.
