Liverpool line up replacement for Brendan Rodgers: The Reds' woes continued at the weekend, sparking huge amounts of speculation in the papers - most interesting of which comes in the Daily Express, claiming that Borussia Dortmund manager Juergen Klopp will be the man to take over at Anfield. Rodgers himself has admitted that his position is under threat, officially marking open season for stories about a replacement being found.
Paper Round says: Klopp's cheeky sense of humour has made him big favourite with fans and media in England, and he recently said that he would fancy working in the Premier League. But really, will Rodgers get the boot? Having done so much for Liverpool - giving the club its respect back, essentially - that seems desperately unlikely. It'll take more than a bad third of a season to dislodge the current Anfield boss.

Arsenal want Basel defender: The Daily Star reports that Fabian Schaar could be on his way to The Emirates: "Gunners boss Arsene Wenger needs a defender and is a big fan of the Swiss international. Schaar, 22, wants to leave Basel in January and has attracted interest from other European clubs, particularly in Italy." The suggested price? Pocket change. Though rated at £10m, Schaar's current deal expires in the summer, and Basel will cash in rather than lose him for nothing.
Paper Round says: We've always been big fans of Schaar, and considering that he's available for a knock-down price this is a no-brainer. Though given the defensive woes at United and Liverpool, we doubt the Gunners will be the only team interested.

Euro Papers: Raheem Sterling

Sterling pledges future to Liverpool: The Sun reports that Liverpool and England star Raheem Sterling wants to stay at Anfield, despite speculation linking him with a move to Real Madrid.
Paper Round says: We've all heard these sort of statements before. And nowhere more than at Liverpool. Luis Suarez signed a new contract at Liverpool less than a year ago (just before Christmas) yet within months was negotiating his summer move to Barcelona. Moral of the story: don't believe a word anyone says, ever, about anything.

Manchester United and Arsenal fighting over £12m defender: Hull's Andy Robertson has sparked a bidding war between the Red Devils and the Gunners, according to the Daily Express. "The Scotland international has caught the eye of the Premier League giants after impressing in just eight starts on Humberside," the paper reports. "It is now understood that both Arsene Wenger and Louis Van Gaal are keen to add him to their respective squads, with his manager Bruce admitting that it will be hard to keep the duo at bay."
Paper Round says: It seems like great business for Hull, who paid just under £3m for Robertson in the summer.
