Sergio Aguero scored the only goal of the game to give Manchester City a 1-0 win over Tottenham to end a run of poor away results.
A frenetic first half saw both sides have chances. Predictably, Harry Kane was at the heart of Spurs' efforts, with the frontman first setting up a Ryan Mason effort before going close with a shot of his own.
However, it was Manchester City who went ahead.
From a Spurs corner, City counter-attacked with David Silva down the right wing. He spotted Aguero's diagonal run into the box, with the Argentine firing in a shot past Hugo Lloris at the near post.
In the second half, Aguero almost turned in a shot after showing brilliant control to take a Fernandinho pass around Lloris, while Kane almost managed to score from a similar position before Joe Hart saved.
With five minutes left, Wilfried Bony drilled wide at the near post but it proved immaterial as City held on despite the presence of Roberto Soldado and Emmanuel Adebayor off the Tottenham bench.

TALKING POINT
Is Sergio Aguero's future at Manchester City? He is the only consistently world class performer that they have. After years of being the best striker in the Premier League - when fit - he must surely be interested in going to a team where he can challenge for trophies on a consistent basis.

MAN OF THE MATCH
Sergio Aguero (Manchester City): Joe Hart was excellent, and commanding in his area in a way that sometimes ends in embarrassing mistakes. However Aguero showed the inventiveness and intelligence that few of his team-mates ever do. He was the only man able to score on both sides - the decisive figure.
