Has Memphis Depay accidentally revealed Manchester United’s surprise signing?

It’s no secret that Manchester United are chasing a striker – and that new recruit may have been accidentally revealed by Memphis Depay.

United are short in attack following the departures of Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao, with a host of players linked with filling the void.

When pressed about a potential surprise signing earlier in the summer, manager Louis van Gaal said: "He is in the process. It's not the striker the media has written about. You have to wait and see."

Could it be Karim Benzema? Or Zlatan Ibrahimovic, perhaps?

Not so, if Depay’s Instagram account is to be believed.

The Netherlands international posted a photo alongside Everton striker Romelu Lukaku featuring the cryptic caption: “see you soon”.

Of course, it could simply be a reference to United's clash with the Toffees in the Premier League. But a quick glance at the fixture list confirms that match will not take place until mid-October.
