Di Maria tells PSG he's not interested, will stay at United - Angel Di Maria is set on proving himself at Manchester United, sources tell The Sun. Paris Saint-Germain are interested in signing the Argentine, but he told the club to back off. “None of this business about PSG is coming from Angel and he has no interest in going there," the source confirmed to the paper before reiterating Di Maria's desire to make it work at Old Trafford.
Paper Round's view - Di Maria was spectacular at Real Madrid before being pushed out because the Merengues wanted the flashier James Rodriguez. It's unlikely that Di Maria wants to leave Manchester United on a down note, too, and it's not as if things have been terrible for him at Old Trafford. He's played well in spurts and is still cashing big cheques. It wouldn't be such a surprise if he wanted to prove himself at the club and give it more than one year in Manchester.

Javier Hernandez has started in just one Primera Division game for Real Madrid this season

Southampton join race for Chicharito - Javier Hernandez is on loan at Real Madrid from Manchester United, but neither club seems interested in him for next season. So where might he go? The Mirror believe that Southampton are set to battle for his signature; Wolfsburg are also interested, as are Stoke and West Ham, but Ronald Koeman believes that his team's scoring troubles in the second half of the season may doom their run to the top four.
Paper Round's view - The Mexican striker has no place at Manchester United or Real Madrid next season. He'll have to find a smaller club and while the Saints are smaller, they're also in a top-four fight so it's not an incredible drop in quality for him to go there. He also won't be prohibitively expensive so Southampton should be able to afford him. Southampton need someone who can finish and Chicharito needs a rebirth. It might just be a great fit.

Asmir Begovic (Stoke City) - Premier League, Arsenal vs Stoke City on January 11, 2015

Manchester United want Begovic to replace De Gea - Louis van Gaal has decided that Asmir Begovic will replace David De Gea if the Spaniard leaves in the summer, according to The Express. De Gea has been linked to a Real Madrid move and has not signed a new contract with Manchester United, fuelling speculation that he will leave. If so, the Red Devils will need a new goalkeeper - and they want Begovic to be that man. Stoke are hoping they can hold on to the Bosnian, citing increased ambitions at the club, but with the goalkeeper set to head into the final year of his contract, it may not matter.
Paper Round's view - If De Gea leaves, Manchester United don't have a ton of options. Most of the world's best goalkeepers are at big clubs, making big money and have little reason to leave. Meanwhile, Begovic has proven he is a good Premier League goalkeeper and, with a year to go on his deal, wouldn't be overly expensive. He's also just 27 years old, which is rather young for a goalkeeper, so he would settle the position for years to come.

Manuel Pellegrini omitted Stevan Jovetic, pictured, from the Champions League squad

Jovetic could spend next season at Inter Milan - Roberto Mancini wants Stevan Jovetic at Inter Milan next season, according to The Mirror. The striker has struggled at Manchester City and was dropped from their Champions League squad, opening the door for Inter to come in. The two clubs have been negotiating, but the problem is Inter want a season-long loan for next year, while City want to sell him.
Paper Round's view - It looks like Jovetic's time at Manchester City is done and it's no surprise that Inter are interested. He's still a talented striker and they desperately need help as their team continues to struggle. The problem is that Inter don't have much money so it would be tough to buy Jovetic, no matter how much they want him. As for City, there's little reason to loan him out if they can sell him and you'd have to think that there will be suitors willing to buy him outright.

Southampton's Sadio Mane celebrates scoring their first goal (Reuters)

Saints could lose Mane - Sporting Lisbon are in hot pursuit of Sadio Mane and have every intention of signing him away from Southampton this summer, claim The Star. There is a belief that Southampton players can be had after they sold so many last summer and Nathaniel Clyne, Morgan Schneiderlin and Toby Alderweireld could all leave this summer. Sporting Lisbon would pay more than the £11.8 million Saints paid for Mane last year and have made him a prime target.
Paper Round's view - History says that if Sporting Lisbon are willing to pay up for Mane, he's theirs. But Southampton made a £33.4 million profit in the last financial year, are competing for a Champions League place and ownership have said they intend to inject more cash into the club. Could they allow them to hold onto their best players? Probably not all of them, but it will help them with some and it's just a matter of which stay and which go. Mane, like the other desired players, could fall in either category.

Arsenal to resume El Shaarawy pursuit - Arsenal missed out on Stephan El Shaarawy in January, but The Telegraph understands that the club will try again for him in the summer. The 22-year-old hasn't played for AC Milan since January and could be had for around £11.8 million. One thing is for certain: Milan won't sell him to another Italian team, as his agent has ruled that possibility out despite several offers.
Paper Round's view - El Shaarawy once looked like one of the most promising talents in Europe. But as AC Milan have gone downhill, so has his relationship with the club and his production. He is still phenomenally talented and would thrive at Arsenal, but it's a matter of price. £11.8 million may be worth it for a player as promising as El Shaarawy, but it's tough to command that when the player isn't playing and has ruled out every interested Italian club. If the price drops, Arsenal could pounce, but several other clubs would probably be interested too.
