The England international was on Monday night reported to have agreed to commit his future to the Anfield outfit in a deal worth £100,000 a week.
The 24-year-old, who joined Liverpool from Sunderland in 2011, is a key member of Brendan Rodgers' side and will take on even greater responsibility when Steven Gerrard leaves the club in the summer. He is currently vice captain to the former England skipper.
The deal would be a major boost for the Reds boss in the wake of their FA Cup semi-final exit, while they also face an uphill battle to qualify for the Champions League.
Liverpool declined to comment on the reports in several national newspapers when contacted by Press Association Sport.
OUR VIEW
It was not so long ago that Henderson was considered a flop at Anfield but he has had an incredible upturn in fortunes under Brendan Rodgers – and it looks almost certain that he will be rewarded with new and improved terms. Liverpool have acted wisely to get in early and agree a deal with the England international before interested parties have a chance to unsettle him. They must only wish they had done the same with Raheem Sterling and avoided the unsightly contractual quagmire they are currently in.
