Victor Valdes has reflected upon a wretched spell at Manchester United by claiming the club would not have noticed if he had knocked himself out, been unconscious and swallowed his tongue.

Speaking to the Spanish newspapaer El Pais, the former Barcelona goaleeper also said that his main social contact at United came via Clive Snell, facility manager at the club's Carrington training ground.
Valdes has joined Belgian club Standard Liege on loan until the end of the season after spending seven months training on his own with Alan Fettis, United's academy goalkeeping coach.
United could renew his contract before May 30, but that is an unlikely prospect with Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford.
United manager Van Gaal accused Valdes of refusing to play in an under-21 match before the Champions League winner dropped out of the picture under Van Gaal.
"What if I were to hit the post and were to lose consciousness, and if I swallowed my tongue?," said Valdes in explaining his concern to Fettis about being isolated.
"Alan replied, ‘I’ve got my phone in my pocket, I’d call and they’d come to help you.’ I told Alan, ‘I feel very alone."

Despite his unhappiness at United, a time when he claimed his locker at the training ground was cleared out without his knowledge last summer, Valdes does not feel bitter towards Van Gaal, a coach who offered him an 18-month contract last January as he recovered from a knee injury.
Van Gaal handed Valdes his debut during his days as Barcelona coach.
"Rancour? Not at all,” said Valdes in refuting claims he held any feelings of bitterness towards Van Gaal.
“He gave me the chance to debut at Barca, he picked me up when I didn’t have a side and he gave me the chance to recover from my knee injury.
"I’ll always be thankful. Deep down, if it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here.
"I was training alone (at United). Do you know what is that? Here (Standard Liege) I am happy just to be in the dressing room. For me (Standard) are the best club in the world."
