Pep Guardiola has often praised the Italy international defender, calling him one of his “favourite ever players.”
His performances at Euro 2016 only further raised the 29-year-old’s profile.
While Italian reports had Juve resisting offers of up to €60m for Bonucci, the Manchester Evening News paints a very different picture.
According to the source in England, it was a third party who approached Manchester City to encourage a bid.
“It is understood that City were approached over a deal for Bonucci, rather than the other way round.
“Contact was made by a third party with a view to securing a move to the Etihad this summer.”
