Eight Premier League managers 'accused of taking bungs' – report

The Telegraph's investigation recorded football agents telling undercover reporters of their dealings with a number of current or former Premier League managers.

“During a series of meetings with agents, managers and club officials over the summer, undercover reporters built up a dossier of secret recordings and other evidence that suggests corruption remains a major problem in the English game,” claims the report.

The Telegraph do not name any of the managers involved in the apparent bung taking, but have revealed that they have handed the transcripts of their conversations to the FA and Police.

It also said that two managers of Championship clubs had also accepted illicit payments, while another manager was known to demand kickbacks from his own players for increasing their wages.

The newspaper also detailed how the money was transferred with the payments being routed through a third party via a "consultancy agreement with somebody who he trusts".

The paper's investigative series has already led to Sam Allardyce leaving his post as the England manager by mutual agreement after he offered advice on how to "get around" rules on transfers.

The 61-year-old’s future dominated much of the news cycle on Tuesday after allegations made by the Telegraph that he had disclosed information to undercover reporters, who were posing as businessmen interested in profiting from the Premier League’s transfer market.
