After a summer of speculation, Jamie Vardy has decided to turn down Arsenal and remain at Leicester
Arsenal met Vardy's £20 million release clause and had hoped for an answer from the striker prior to the start of Euro 2016.
But he was unwilling to take a decision on his future before flying to France, and has now opted to stay with the Premier League champions.
"Leicester City have today (Thursday) agreed with the representatives of Jamie Vardy to extend the England international’s contract with the Premier League champions for a further four years.
"Both parties hope that this announcement will end recent speculation regarding Jamie’s future and confirm his long term commitment to Leicester City Football Club.
Jamie will continue to focus all of his efforts on trying to achieve success with the England team at the European Championships in France.
"There will be no further comment from either the Club or the player on this matter until the conclusion of the tournament."
Arsene Wenger was recently questioned about the player's future on Japanese television and said:
"Jamie Vardy, at the moment, is at Leicester. On what I know, he will stay at Leicester."
Leicester fans will be hoping that N'Golo Kanté and Riyad Mahrez follow suit and give Leicester the best possible chance of building on their remarkable success.
