Leicester City appoint former Liverpool scout Eduardo Macia as head of senior recruitment

Macia worked with Leicester City boss Claudio Ranieri during his time at Valencia, where Macia was sporting director – a role he later lost. Though he was offered another role on the board, Macia left to join Liverpool as chief scout in 2006.

During his time at Liverpool Macia, 42, was involved in the signing of Fernando Torres from Atletico Madrid as well as Raheem Sterling to the club's youth team from Queens Park Rangers. Macia left Liverpool in 2010, and enjoyed spells at Olympiacos, Fiorentina and Real Betis.

The Spaniard replaces Steve Walsh, who oversaw the recruitment of Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez and N’Golo Kante by the Foxes and left during the summer to join Everton.
