West Ham in historic win at Anfield as they put three past Liverpool

West Ham recorded a historic victory over Liverpool after goals from Manuel Lanzini, Mark Noble and Diafra Sakho gave them their first win at Anfield since 1963.

Lanzini converted Noble’s early cross before the Hammers skipper doubled his side’s lead before the break.

Liverpool’s bleak situation was made even worse early in the second half as Philippe Coutinho saw red for a second bookable offence.

And although Mark Noble received a harsh straight red late in the game, Sakho’s late goal secured a deserved victory as Liverpool were condemned to their first defeat of the season.

It made for a topsy-turvy start to the season for West Ham, who have also won at Arsenal but lost at home to Leicester and Bournemouth.

3’ – GOAL! Liverpool 0-1 West Ham: A really poor defensive header from Martin Skrtel falls to Mark Noble. His cross-cum-shot falls to Lanzini to tuck home his first for the club at the far post.

29’ – GOAL! Liverpool 0-2 West Ham: Mark Noble takes advantage of some slack Liverpool defending to fire West Ham further ahead. Lovren dallies on the ball near the corner and is robbed by Lanzini. His cross deflects to Noble, who rifles home.

51’ – RED CARD COUTINHO: The Liverpool playmaker is off after a second bookable offence after bringing down Payet.

79’ – RED CARD NOBLE: The Hammers skipper is off after being adjudged to have made a two-footed challenge on Danny Ings. Looked harsh.

90’ – GOAL! Liverpool 0-3 West Ham: The ball deflects to Diafra Sakho, who has three red shirts in front of him. The Liverpool defence backs off, allowing him to shoot and he beats Mignolet.

West Ham win at Anfield for the first time since 1963 when Geoff Hirst and Ron Greenwood were on the scoresheet.

This equals the biggest losing margin for Liverpool in a Premier League home match after a 4-1 home defeat v Chelsea on 2 October 2005.

Manuel Lanzini scores his first PL goal. Last season he netted eight times for Al Jazira (UAE) in the Arabian Gulf League.
