Liverpool are on the verge of completing moves for three key signings; Arsenal suffer a set-back in their pursuit of Arturo Vidal; and the latest in the Sergio Ramos to Manchester United saga – the top stories from today’s papers.

Ludwig Augustinsson of Sweden (R) vies for a ball with Ruben Loftus-Cheek of England during the UEFA Under21 European Championship 2015 football match between Sweden and England on June 21, 2015, in the Ander stadium in Olomouc, Czech Republic.

‘Liverpool to complete huge triple deal’ - Liverpool are on the verge of completing moves for three key signings, according to a report in the Daily Star. Southampton right-back Nathaniel Clyne, Barcelona winger Bobby Adekanye and FC Copenhagen left-back Ludwig Augustinsson are all set to move to Anfield in the coming days. Clyne will complete his £12.5m switch from St. Mary's; Barcelona whizz-kid Adekanye is expected to undergo a medical on Wednesday before arriving on a free transfer; and the Reds are also in advanced talks about a move for 21-year-old Augustinsson as Rodgers looks to provide competition for Alberto Moreno.
Paper Round’s view: Jose Mourinho demonstrated the value of doing all the key business nice and early in the transfer window last season and Rodgers is clearly aiming to have the same decisiveness this time round. Clyne looks a formality at this stage, while Adekanye and Augustinsson are the kind of exciting and developing players Liverpool have talked about targeting for some time. Whether or not fans feel that the club are overpaying for Clyne, there is no doubt that he is a big upgrade on Glen Johnson given his performances last season.
'Arsenal end Vidal chase' - Arsenal will not chase Arturo Vidal after all. The Telegraph understand that Arsene Wenger has pulled out of the race for the Chilean star, while he has also failed to follow up on Morgan Schneiderlin. The Gunners manager is now re-evaluating whether the club really need to sign a central midfielder this summer after Francis Coquelin played well last season.
Paper Round's view - Vidal was always going to be a tough and expensive signing. Schneiderlin would be difficult as well because of Manchester United's involvement. But if Arsenal don't sign a central midfielder this summer then they can't realistically expect to be much better this season because as well as Coquelin played, he still wasn't good enough to shore up a major problem area for the Gunners.

'Ramos tells Real Madrid he wants United move' - Sergio Ramos responded to Real Madrid rejecting Manchester United's £32 million bid for him by telling the Merengues that he desperately wants to join the Red Devils, according to The Sun. United have offered David De Gea in a straight swap for Ramos as well, but Real Madrid have balked at that too. But Ramos wants a move and is imploring Real Madrid to facilitate it.
Paper Round's view - There have been so many reports in England and Spain that Ramos really wants to leave Real Madrid so it looks like he indeed desires a Man United move. Unfortunately, Real aren't a club that normally does what players ask. £32 million is a big bid, but the Merengues were already thin at centre-back. If they can buy another central defender, they may be willing to sell, but until then, they'll probably hold out until Man United give up or offer a ton of money.

'Spurs to offer Adebayor in Benteke deal' - Tottenham are hoping that Tim Sherwood really wants Emmanuel Adebayor. The Mirror claim that Spurs are offering to throw Adebayor into their bid to sign Christian Benteke. Spurs think the striker's £32.5 million release clause is too high, but Sherwood rates Adebayor highly so including him in a deal might get Villa to lower their asking price for Benteke.
Paper Round's view - Adebayor could very well join Villa this summer. Spurs have no use for him and he got along well with Sherwood before. But it's unlikely that the striker will head to Villa in any deal for Benteke. Swaps are hard to sort out, Benteke's transfer will not be easy and Adebayor's wages are astronomical. Those are three barriers to overcome and if one doesn't end the talk of a swap, the others will.

'Chelsea bid £6 million for Begovic' - Chelsea have begun their pursuit of Asmir Begovic. The Telegraph understand that the Blues submitted a £6 million bid for the goalkeeper, which Stoke rejected. But Chelsea had "extensive negotiations" with Stoke on Monday and are hopeful of getting a deal done this week. The Potters want £8 million for the backstop.
Paper Round's view - Jose Mourinho has never been one to accept being weak anywhere on the roster so he's not going to watch Petr Cech leave and let just anyone take over as backup goalkeeper. He's going to go get a good one and Begovic would certainly be that. £8 million isn't much for a club like Chelsea so that's not a big obstacle and Begovic may be going from starter to backup, but he'll play in cups and cash a much bigger check every week at Chelsea.

'City may go after Fabinho' - Manchester City are considering a bid for Fabinho, per The Mail. The 21-year-old right back just signed with Monaco a year ago for £4 million and they aren't too keen on selling him yet, but have told City that they will let him go for £15 million. That has the Citizens considering whether to bid.
Paper Round's view - Fabinho is a terrific player and would be a good fit at City. The Citizens have Pablo Zabaleta and Bacary Sagna at right back, both of whom are over 30-years-old so they need to start preparing for a new player at the position. Fabinho would be that and might even be their best option at right back by the end of this season, but £15 million is a lot to spend at a position that City don't have an immediate need.
